Non-traditional Fitness Background

Since the age of 10, I was unable to participate in gym classes due to a medical condition: my knees dislocate. I had never worked out, gone to a gym, run a mile, or even played a sport until my early 30’s.

Living with headaches and joint problems, I visited a chiropractor who helped me find relief. He went above and beyond by introducing me to his gym, teaching me how to build strength and find joint stability. At the same time, I started lessons in Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

When I took my first yoga class in 2003,  my body, mind, and spirit experienced an “a-ha” moment. After several years of practicing yoga and taking classes, I knew that I wanted to share the same exhilarating experience of yoga with others. I obtained my 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification in 2005 and started teaching and sharing my passion for well-being.

After years of attending fitness training workshops beyond the scope of yoga,  I became an ACE Certified Personal Trainer in 2012, and an AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor in 2013. In the fall of 2015, I became a NETA certified Wellness Coach. Ever since,I've been training clients to help them reach their wellness goals.

Yoga Instructor

I received my yoga training at Feel Your Best (FYB) in Mequon, WI whose philosophy is the “The person, not the pose.” After becoming Yoga Alliance 200-hour certified yoga instructor in 2005, I began teaching a gentle, benefits-oriented teaching style that incorporates Iyengar (alignment), Ashtanga (power), Viniyoga (therapeutic) yoga. I continue my yoga education through personal study, workshops, and conferences. To give back, I donate my service and talents at Yoga Journal Conferences around the USA.

My hatha yoga classes focus on coordinating breath and movement as well as providing modifications to ensure student safety. I teach classes in a non-traditional manner, encouraging conversation and individual discovery, so each student may make the yoga practice their own. As a teacher, I consider myself a guide, igniting students to have the “a-ha” moments that will serve them well, both on and off of the yoga mat.
